Another Debbie Shore satchel bag

So last week I decided to make another Debbie Shore satchel bag, and i must say the more you make these the easier they are!

I made this particular one in a cotton canvas I bought a metre of each and paid around £6 a metre and this bag doesn't take a lot of fabric at all so i could probably make a couple more bags from this.

I used the Bolsal foam again as the wadding for the front and back of the bag, i love this stuff its more expensive at about 8 per half metre but this bag only takes a bit i've made about three of these bags out of that and a makeup bag so it is quite cost effective but that obviously depends on what bag you make and how big it is.

Here are some photos of the bag I made. I love the colours of this one it is muted but still has that bit of colour. I didn't use an adjustable strap for this one as I didn't have a slider available and couldn't wait to make it.

  1. Hi,may I firstly say congratulations on becoming part of crafter's companions team. I can't keep away from the store, especially the sewing side. Anyway to the matter I need advice on.You stated that you had used the foam for structual stability. I also am wanting to start Debbie's Satchel bag, I bought the fusible wadding,is this no good? Or would it still work?. I am a bit of a professionalist,so if it wouldn't stand completely as it should it would end up in the U.F.P. box or my U.A.P.box.lol so it's a must I get it right. Help me get it right please Hun.x

    1. Hi Lynda Thank you very much, I am very excited to be on the design team, sorry for such a late reply ! As for the satchel bag Fusible wadding will work but all I will say is that it won't completely have that satchel feel to the bag and might not stand as well on its own, hope this makes sense. So if you can get your hands on the foam then I'd recommend using that.
